About Myself

Utrecht, Holland
4.20pm

There is a reason that Holland is just about my favorite country in the world...becuase it is so wonderful to be in this splendid country! The people are just about the coolist people in the world, and there is an atomosphere of open mindedness, progressiveness and kindness. If there were a country that truely lived the aloha spirit in a widespread mannor, it would definitily have to be the Netherlands! Everytime I ask anyone for help in this country of people who speak nearly perfect English everywhere, people are so amazingly friendly and helpful. Its amazing that a country of 16.5 million can be so uniformly kind to tourists!

So, Amsterdam has never been my city, I have always wondered why all the tourists flock to that somewhat scummy city when there are places like Utrecht. (Actually, I think we know why.) Utrect has been my favorite dutch city for 10 years since when I came here for the first time. This small city of 400,000 captivates me. It is a young city with a real university feeling. Its midevil coblestone streets wind thier way around a beautiful cannal and lots of great trendy shops, restaurants and coffee shops. The thing that grabs me the most is that unlike other cities with canals, here the restaurants are right down on the water, so that the ducks are like 1 foot from your plate. The sky is beautiful and blue, and we have finally avoided the rain, Joel is almost done with his 35 hour translations job that has eaten up much of the last week(a German video game translated into coloqial English)... everything is looking up!

Yesterday I spent hours walking around the beautiful old streets filled with new trendy eye candy by myself whilst Joel worked. Wow, lots of walking. We also took a great boat tour and had some nice (but ouch its expenisve to eat here) meals on the canal. The canals used to be storage places after things were unloaded from the boats, and now this space is used for stores, studios and restuarants.

That is all for now, we arrived and stayed for a night at my familys house (Eric and Nora) and waited out the rain whilst Joel finished his translation project. They have such a gorgeous new house and it is always nice to see their kind faimily.

This computer is over 7$ an hour so I just thought I would attach a quick hi to what I wrote above. We are down in Italy now with my dad heading south. I ll write again when computers are cheaper. The sun is out, again, and it is beautiful in a small midevil town with tall towers, love
