We are so far ahead of you guys we celebrated New Years like a day before you did probably! (22 hours ahead of Hawaii)
G'day!
We are currently buying our tickets to Hawaii...I'm coming home in February! We are also going to head off toward a beach to get out of the city for my birthday. Since we have a number here ( a cell or mobile phone) I thought I would let you have it. Sorry if you have written and I have not responded (I will soon), I am currently staying out in a suburb (Joel's dad's house) and there aren't any computers I can use out that way.
Just as a little side note: I went out to a moonlight sanctuary (so appropriate for my time schedule and how HOT it is here now) and saw so many cool new animals! It was so great to go do something (Joel has been busy with family and so we've not really had a chance to see much of anything or even swim at the beach) out of the city!
So, I saw and fed my first kangaroos and wallabies and pet a koala (don't use the word bear after that word or you will be sternly corrected that they are not bears!)!!! Apparently in the state of Victoria (where we are in southern Australia) it is illegal to hold Koalas because it 'stresses them out'. Well, the Koala I befriended, Gumba, was so chill, it was hard to wake him to get him to open his eyes for a photo. They sleep for 20 hours a day you know, so I imagine that would help with anyone's stress level.
Anyway, the kangaroos were so cute the way they hop around and lick your hand as they eat out of it. Among the other cute animales were the Dingos (I touched one), sugar gliders, potaroo, wombats, kookaburras and plenty of other animals I'd never really heard of.
So, I hope you had a wonderful new year. What would you like to create for the new year? Drop me a line, I would love to hear what new manifestations you have in store! For New Years we went to a BBQ and then into the CBD (short for Central Business District or downtown) and watched a band and fireworks at Federation square (the main square in the CBD) Federation square is interesting becuase they just created out nothing. The train tracks all went through there, so they cleverly built a whole central square right on top of it all.
Ok, enough tid bits, I'm tired.
Happy New Year!
Timory
